The Get Down - FW18

The  Get  Down

Closing out 2017 and marching into 2018 like WOW! Below we have the scoop on Tokyo musts when visiting, a new mix tape, snaps of the best of the best Christmas windows in New York City and last but not least our latest cocktail creation.

Holiday Windows: Neon For Christmas

We love the simple but bold message of this window - we could use a little hope after this year! Keeping with the theme of ‘Neon for Christmas’ - we appreciate Fendi’s take, sans actual lights.

Christmas windows can get a bit hokey and repetitive - especially at the classic Fifth Avenue stores where locals and tourists alike have come to expect a big display, so we were blown away by Bergdorf’s light filled windows. As an ode to New York (which we always love), the retailer mixed classic colors and themes with a very modern take. We especially loved the neon New York Philharmonic window with its ‘girl boss’ conductor.

Gucci’s windows convey the holiday spirit without any of the traditional colors or themes. The nod to home and family lit up in modern pinks + yellows plus the perfectly symmetrical compositions made this a shoe-in for our favorites list.

Leave it to Diesel to take the off-beat route - swapping traditional Christmas themes for sheep in leather jackets with Manic-Panic-neon hued hair. The concept of ‘Say No to Uncool Wool’ is a stance against the ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’. That’s something we can get behind.

Jimmy Choo

Always a sucker for disco balls - we enjoyed this festive, non-kitschy window. Throw in the pink neon framed in plexi and the sassy tagline and it’s simple perfection.

Tokyo  Must

La Foret Department Store
1-11-6 Jingumae, Shibuya 150-0001, Tokyo

Located in Harajuku and comprised of mini shop in shops all from original and local de- signers. Reminds us of the old Patricia Field’s on 8th Street! Truly original spot.

Loft Department Store
12-1 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Located on the rooftop of the 60 Hotel, we love this bar because of the tropical décor (obviously), awesome drinks and mixed crowd it brings in, reminding us of the old NYC...

The Robot Restaurant
〒160-0021 Tokyo, Shinjuku, Kabukicho,1-7-1新宿ロボットビル

Yes, touristy AF but it really doesn’t matter since the entire experience is like nothing you have ever seen before. From the opulent waiting room to the final show, it is absolutely mind blowing in the best way possible.

Shinjuku Golden Gai
1 ChomeKabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo

Shinjuku Golden Gai- comprised of small, narrow streets filled with Tokyo’s tiniest bars that seat as little as six people this area is a must to go bar hopping in. Most spots are friendly to tourists although some are locals only making it a totally authentic Tokyo ex- perience.
